Nutritional Foundations for Mental Health

The Missing Link in Mental Health

At The Art of Happiness, we understand that lasting emotional wellbeing is built on a solid foundation. What you feed your body, you feed your brain. The gut-brain connection is a powerful, science-backed pathway that influences mood, stress resilience, and emotional balance.

As part of my integrative counselling approach, I provide specialised psychoeducation on nutritional and lifestyle foundations to support your mental health journey, particularly for those healing from trauma, anxiety, and depression.

How Nutritional Foundations Support Therapy

This is not about dieting or strict meal plans. It is about empowering you with knowledge to create a biochemical environment where healing can flourish. We explore how food and lifestyle choices can:

Stabilise Mood & Energy: Understanding how blood sugar, nutrients, and gut health directly impact anxiety and depressive symptoms.

Support Nervous System Regulation: Learning how specific foods can either calm or aggravate stress responses.

Reduce Inflammatory Stress: Exploring the link between chronic inflammation and mental health conditions.

Build a Resilient Foundation: Creating simple, sustainable habits that support your overall therapy goals.

My Training & Approach

My guidance is informed by advanced specialist training, including:

Professional Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from The Health Sciences Academy.

Holistic Mental Health Specialist Certificate, which includes the Brainbow Blueprint® methodology by Dr. Leslie Korn, focusing on integrative medicine for mental health.

Important Note: This service is provided strictly within my scope as an ACA-registered Counsellor. I offer psychoeducation and supportive strategies, not medical nutrition therapy, diagnosis, or prescription. I work collaboratively with your healthcare team and recommend consulting with a dietitian or GP for specific medical needs.

Who Can Benefit?

This integrative layer is especially valuable if you are working on:

  • Trauma Recovery (PTSD/C-PTSD)
  • Anxiety & Chronic Stress
  • Depression & Low Mood
